w/ Ndehru Roberts

  • Vibrant, dynamic and compelling are all terms often associated with this young performer’s work. Ndehru received favorable recognition for his role as “Carlin”, an abandoned street teen torn between the life of a hustler and his own ambitions for self improvement, in his off- Broadway debut in “God’s Heart” at Lincoln Center. In the company of playwright Craig Lucas, and a star-studded cast under the direction of Joe Mantello (Wicked), newspaper critics acknowledged the honesty in Ndehru’s performance noting, “young Roberts went beyond many call of duty” (NY Times Apr 1996) for this role. This was one of the most significant characters played by Ndehru as this credit continued to expand and build a diverse foundational body of work. A native New Yorker, born and raised in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn, Ndehru formally studied acting and continued to pursue his passion for the arts while attending the prestigious Professional Performing Arts HS in NYC. He has credited this program with providing valuable training and theatre technique that continues to
carry over into his preparation and work. Adding to his artistic credit, Ndehru is also a songwriter who is actively pursuing a career in the music industry. Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in music business from the State University of New York College at Oneonta, he also plans to develop a successful future career as an artist manager and on-air personality. During his college career he was well known for his music appearances with live bands, frequent radio station appearances and stage performances to pre
recorded track. His lyrical content and stage performance as a recording artist is innovative, exciting and thought provoking as he brings high levels of energy and stage presence to his written
work. For his insightful and descriptive lyrics about self expression, society-ills as well as his own life, he has acquired the stage name “Daylight” by his peers in the hip-hop community.
